Open Studio _ Painting plein air

Open Studio _ Painting plein air

Painting Plein Air Open studios is a great time to meet people and chat about your art. The usual thing is you either pacing waiting for a visitor or they all arrive at once. Yesterday I took my easel and sat outside my studio (home) and painted plein air. I love the challenge of just applying the paint directly with no planning. Combining this with my weeks experimental work with oils on paper led to some really great work although with a different feel to my usual plein air painting where I layer the paint thick and fast. Here I have used the texture in the paper and the heavy rubbing into the paper to create a far more subdued effect. I wanted to keep the image soft and lose without much detail. RESULT!
